Brazil's Top Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps in Q1 2021: A Sensor Tower Analysis

In the first quarter of 2021, Brazil's carpooling and ridesharing app landscape saw varied performances among the top players. Sensor Tower provides a detailed look into the downloads and active user trends for these apps, offering valuable insights into the sector's dynamics.

Uber - Request a ride saw a gradual decrease in downloads from 342K in the last week of December 2020 to 208K by the end of March 2021. The app's weekly active users also declined from 11.8M to 8.9M during the same period.

inDrive. Save on city rides experienced fluctuations in downloads, starting at 118K and dipping to 82K in mid-January before surging to 285K in late March. The weekly active users followed a similar trend, initially decreasing from 1.9M to 1.5M, then rising to 1.8M, and finally dropping to 1.6M at the quarter's end.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver showed a decrease in downloads from 129K to 71K, with a slight peak at 98K in early March. The app's active users started at 738K, reached a high of 795K in early February, and ended the quarter with 682K active users.

BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus downloads saw a downward trend from 103K to 60K, despite minor increases in mid-February and late March. The weekly active users displayed more stability, beginning at 788K, dipping to 568K, and then rebounding to 644K by the end of March.

Lastly, Cabify had the lowest download numbers among the top apps, with an initial spike at 19K in early January, followed by a decrease to 4K by the end of March. The active users showed a mixed pattern, peaking at 323K in late January and then decreasing to 251K in early March, before slightly increasing to 251K to close the quarter.
